As I look back on my early days as a Milliner, there are great memories of creating looks for celebrities. Before facebook, twitter, and the like, it was difficult to get your work out there, We had to catch the video on television and try to tape it on the VCR. I feel so lucky to still be in the game since the 80's and have social media on my team.
I often google my name, EVETTA PETTY, and my company name, HARLEM'S HEAVEN HATS, just to see what new press we have. I searched the hot guy group from back in the day, Cameo and up popped Larry Blackmon and Cameo on the Arsenio Hall Show , singing" WORD UP" via youtube. And BAM!!! LARRY BLACKMON was wearing one of several HATS that I made for CAMEO back then. This big oversized black and white polka dot cap that now reminds me of a pan of jiffy pop, was making quite a fashion statement. Currently my claim to fame is a feather fascinator and my stenciled felt hats. I have come a long way and I just love it!!!!
